Club Rules

Flying Rules:

Every MMFC member and visiting pilot must be familiar with and adhere to the following flying rules….

1. To fly at the MMFC, you must be a MACI insured member and familiar with the MACI Code of SafePractice.

2. Frequency control at the MMFC is ‘off-the-peg’ unless otherwise specified. Do not attempt to turn on your transmitter unless you are in possession of the frequency marker that matches the frequency your transmitter is operating at

3. Before attempting to start/fly a model, ensure all the model’s controls are operating correctly and are airworthy. 4. Before attempting to start a model ensure that it is adequately restrained. Use the restraints provided by the club or employ the help of another pilot.

5. Before attempting to start a helicopter engine, ensure you have a firm grip on the rotor head and the ‘Normal’ flight condition is selected on your transmitter.

6. Under no circumstance should a model be left unrestrained with its engine running whilst in the pits area.

7. Model aircraft engines must only be started in the pits area and not out on the runway.

8. Pilots must stand beside each other on the flightline in a manner that facilitates easy communication with one another.

9. Planes and Helicopters are not allowed occupy the same airspace. Unless pilots of both aircraft types can come to an agreed airspace division, Helicopters and Planes should not fly at the same time.

10. Pilots must maintain a flightline that’s parallel to the centre of the runway from which they have taken-off unless it’s deemed necessary to change flightline for safety reasons.

11. Do not fly over the car park or pits area under any circumstance. If a pilot flies over the pits/car park area they will be asked to land.

12. Do not attempt to taxi a plane or fly a helicopter back to the pits area. Stop the models engine on the runway and carry/tow the model back to the pits.

13. Turn off your transmitter when finished your flight and return the frequency marker to the clubhouse should someone else need to use it.

14. In an emergency the model is always the lowest priority. Ditch the model if necessary to avoid a hazardous situation.

Breaking the Flying Rules, blatant or otherwise will be looked upon very seriously by the committee and club members. If your adherence to the Flying Rules is corrected or commented upon by someone at the club, please re-consider the Flying Rules and don’t be insulted.

Exercise common sense on all safety matters.
